Client: China National Tourist Office in Sydney
This is a promotional campaign for the China National Tourist Office in Sydney. The project aims to promote tourism in China to the general public in Australia, especially in South Australia.
To achieve the highest visibility, we are implementing transit installations at the heart of Adelaide as part of this project. The specific objective of the installations is to showcase China’s iconic tourist attractions as if they were being viewed through a window.
“Based on the client’s requirement of creating a window-like poster that frames China’s attractions, I choose to adopt the design format of a traditional Chinese window. This window, crafted from wood and adorned with intricate tracery, augments the allure of the vistas it frames. The use of window tracery adds an air of mystery and desirability to the scenes beyond, with half concealed by the wooden lattice and half unveiled to the audience.”
“The images of iconic tourist destinations encapsulate diverse scenes: landscapes, architectural marvels, animals, and cities. I’ve tried several ways to express the window concept by visual communication”
“For final concept, to ensure the representation of as many attractions as possible, I’ve conceptualised the entire poster as an expansive window, and by situating it in an open position, I’ve reduced the portion of the window, mimicking a real window that beckons to China’s treasures. The font within the design adopts a decorated, handwritten style, evoking an aura of antiquity that harmonises with the client’s campaign from the previous year.”
